JR is neutered. He walks with a limp due to an injury as a pup.
Hi,
My name is Junior, I also answer to “Bug” (short for “June bug”). I will answer and come to either name, (especially if either name is spoken sternly). My “mom” has left my “dad” and I am a little confused right now.
I am a people loving dog, and love attention! I am a very obedient dog, and the best watch dog you will ever have. I have grown up with one family my entire life, but strangers and children are not new to me (just please allow me a few minutes to get accustomed to either and I’ll be fine / unless I’m harassed by either of the above). I am neutered and my shots are current w/tags as of this writing (my “dad” will provide the documentation to this). I was neutered last year due to a life threatening health issue. My day typically encompasses being let outside in the morning, to sit at my “watch post” (my favorite chair) to protect my master’s property and then brought in at night. Not to worry about your yard, I’ve never really been a hole digger or destructive to plants, (but I do still mark my territory). I am still very playful to my younger “dog-sister” and enjoy chasing a ball sometimes. I also love playing tug-of war with a rope and love the Hartz dental nyla-bones. Below are some bullet points to better describe me:
- I have been the only male dog in my household since I was brought home. I have lived with 3 other female dogs in my lifetime (2 of which were older than me) and 1 younger female. I have typically always shown the behavior of the “Alpha dog” throughout my entire life. I’ve also displayed this behavior when taken around other male dogs. I might not get along well with other male dogs (unless they are younger than me). I do have to be reminded of my manners from time to time, (especially when I’m not feeling well or not happy).
But I do listen to and obey your commands!
- I have been an outside dog my entire life, that has always had a fenced in yard to run in and at least a screened in porch to sleep on. But I have also been allowed to come into the house every night, to sleep at the foot of my master’s bed. And I really do not like the cold, (anything below 65 degrees is really cold to me)! Typically, I have never attempted to “break-out” of any fenced in enclosure. I have only been subjected to crates (or kennels) when taken to the vet (I will “howl” if left alone in a kennel for any duration).
- My eating habits are very similar to my master(s). Typically when I see my master(s) eating I will want to eat (and have always had my “self-feeding” type food bowl) from which I eat at my own leisure. I have never been fed table scraps/food and have never been allowed to sit in the room while my family is eating. I will usually refuse to eat when I am affected by separation from my master(s), and I almost always eat my “dinner” between 5-7 P.M. like clockwork! My previous master will provide my “self-feeding” food bowl, (but please only fill it half-full so the humidity doesn’t make my food taste bad, or I might refuse to eat). I have grown up eating Purina One dog food, and my favorite treat is definitely the “beggin-strips” that I’ve usually been given on a daily basis if I’m good.
- I am leash and harness trained and love walks. My previous master will supply my harness and my leash to which I am used to.
- I love to go on rides and enjoy holding my head out the vehicle’s window. I’ve never really been in the back of a truck bed before.
- I love the water and can swim, (but I’ve never had to swim for any long length of time).
- I know and understand the following commands:
- No (no, bad dog)
- Yes (yes, good dog)
- Stay (if my master(s) leaving me for any period or for me to stay put)
- Sit (Been taught to do for a treat) I’m stubborn about this sometimes).
- Lay down (if I’m too rowdy or for bed time)
- In-inside (wanna’ go inside?)
- Out-outside (wanna’ go outside?)
- Treat (want a treat?)
- C’mon (pronounced “come on”/like bone) for me to follow or come inside.
- No barking (“no barking at the neighbor” and “no barking” if I’m let out late at night to pee).
